I can't even believe how much has changed in the last year! You hear your whole life that "kids grow up so fast," but you can't really wrap your head around it until you have your own. It seems like just yesterday I held that little guy in my hands for the first time, and now he's walking around the house! I also have come to accept that being a stay-at-home mom isn't the worst thing in the world. I still want a job, but I do love my snuggle time with Charlie. I find myself making excuses on Thursdays to keep from subbing, and on Tuesdays, I rush to pick him up from daycare.
We've had a busy week this week with Charlie's birthday and my school classes starting. I have two classes this semester; one will suck ferociously and the other will be beneficial. I'm more or less annoyed with the amount of work this school requires. If I were a traditional student, like back in my Western days, I wouldn't bat an eye. But this school knows that it is for non-traditional students with jobs and lives. I know I don't currently have a job, but I do have a child and a home and other things to take care of. I don't have time to read a dry history book once a week. I usually blow off the reading, but for one class, I need to take a quiz based on the reading weekly, and there is a 10 minute time limit on the quiz. I wish the school would just accept that it isn't a real university and stop trying to raise its expectations.
